Separation Overview

Document separation is a crucial step in the processing workflow on the Parashift platform. It allows you to automatically separate documents within a single upload into individual documents using predefined criteria. This process ensures that documents are accurately handled and prepared for further processing.

Where to Configure Separation

Separation settings can be configured within the Upload Configuration under the Separation section.

Available Separation Methods

There are several methods available to automatically separate documents based on different criteria:

  1. By File -> By Page Interval
    This method separates documents based on page intervals, where each document within the batch is separated by a predefined number of pages.

  2. Intelligently -> Separation Thresholds
    Intelligent separation uses machine learning to separate documents automatically. This method is configured with separation thresholds (lower and upper) that define the confidence levels for successful separation.

  3. Separation Page
    A specific page is designated as the separation page, which acts as a delimiter to separate documents within a batch.

  4. By Barcode
    Barcodes on the first page of each document can be used to trigger the separation. A unique barcode pattern is defined to ensure precise separation without errors.

Possible Automation Options

You can automate the separation process by setting up certain options within the configuration:

  • Manual Validation Required (5.)
    If enabled, manual validation is required before the documents are separated. This setting ensures that separation occurs only after human validation, making it particularly useful for documents with complex structures.

Quality Control (QC) Configuration

The QC Step (6.) can be configured during the document separation process. It specifies the tenant for the QC step and the percentage of documents that need to undergo quality control before being processed further.
